History will be made in the Uefa Champions league
irrespective of who wins it…..Here are my reasons why….
1. If
Bayern Munich wins they will be the first club to defend their title successfully
in the champion’s league era. The closest a side came was Manchester United
losing in the 2008-09 Rome final against Barcelona…United were crowned
champions the previous year after defeating Chelsea via penalties at the
Luzhniki stadium in Moscow, Russia.
2. If
Atletico Madrid wins it will be the first in their history. The closest they
came was in the 1973-74 season when they lost in the final to a Bayern Munich
side that boasted the likes of Gerd Muller, Uli Hoeness, and captained by Franz
“the Kaizer” Beckenbauer.
3. If
Chelsea wins it, It will be Mourinho’s first for the club but will also Make
the Portuguese tactician the 1st manager to win the Competiton with
3 different teams in 3 different countries. He did it first with FC Porto (Portugal)
in 2003-04, and then Inter Milan (Italy) in 2009-10.
4. If
Real Madrid wins it, they will become the first team ever to enter a double
digit number in terms of success in the European Cup/Champions League. The “Los
Blancos” have won 9 titles altogether with their last coming in the 2001–02
Interesting, scenarios but we await the outcomes of the respective
Semi final clashes to know which teams will meet in the Lisbon final on May 24th.
