All you need to know about ......referee Sandro Ricci...the appointed official for Ghana's encounter with Germany

FIFA has selected inexperienced Brazilian referee Sandro Meira Ricci to take charge of the decisive Black Stars vs Germany clash tomorrow.

Ghana go into the game needing not a defeat to salvage their hopes of progression from the group stages....

Among the 25 referees selected for the world cup.... Brazilian Sandro Ricci alongside Nestor Pitana of Argentina are the least experienced with just 38 games apiece under their respective belts before the tournament kicked off....

Before this tournament... Ricci had a record of 38 matches....17 red cards and 11 penalties..

He issued 7 yellow cards (including 2 to Wilson Palacios ) and gave a penalty to France in his first match officiated at the mundial....

His record now stands at 12 penalties... 18 red cards...179 yellow cards...in 39 matches...with an average of 4.589 yellow cards per game...

He officiated Ghana's Black Satellites third place playoff encounter with Iraq at the 2013 world youth championship in Turkey...

He also took charge of last years FIFA club world.cup final between Bayern Munich and Raja Casablanca...


In 2011, in a game between Brasiliense-Formosa, referee Ricci gave two yellow cards  to a player, but he forgot the red card. ...Although not the first referee to make such a blunder...

About him:::
A referee with 15 years of experience. .....Ricci became professional ref in 2003 and entered in CBF in 2006....(A very fast career.)

He joined FIFA's list of referees from 2011, replacing Carlos Simon.

He is a CONMEBOL Category 2 referee.

Sandro Ricci works with the federal government (civil servant).........One year after entering for CBF in 2007, he already took charge of matches in the Serie A of the Brazilian Championship.........And in 2010 Ricci was voted best referee in Brazil.

His  assistant referees are  Emerson de Carvalho and Marcelo Van Gasse.

During his debut match France-Honduras, which was played on 15 June 2014, he was the first referee in the world to validate a goal by means of the newly introduced goal line technology...

Born in 1974 precisely on November 19 in Brasilia...Referee Sandro Ricci speaks Portuguese, English, Spanish, and Italian....

Whatever it is...Ghanaians expect a fair game from this referee.
