FIFA-badged Ivorian referee Denis Dembele has been appointed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to take charge of Medeama SC’s Confederations Cup clash with AC Leopards.
The April 27th tie which will be the 2nd leg of the play-off tie of the competition will be played at the Sekondi Essipong Stadium.
35-year-old, Dembele has been involved in CAF Competitions since 2010 and last officiated in a CAF inter club competition involving a Ghanaian side when Kotoko played Sony Ela Nguema in Kumasi in February last year.
He also got a late appointment to take charge of Berekum Chelsea’s 5-0 drubbing of Raja Casablanca in the first leg of the 1/16th round of last year’s CAF Champions League at the Berekum Golden City Park.
He replaced referee Coulibaly Koman and his Malian charges who had to pull out of the Chelsea game due to civil unrest in their country which forced the closure of the Bamako Airport; hence, their inability to travel to Ghana.
Dembele will be supported by an all Ivorian cast in Mamadou Sherif BOGBE and Moussa BAYERE on the lines with 38-year-old Kouamé N'DRI serving as the fourth official.
The match Commisioner is Bolaji Raufu Ojo-Oba from Nigeria.
Medeama lost he first leg encounter 2-0 in Congo last week Sunday.
