DIDI DRAMANI- I HAVEN’T FAILED
Ghana U-20 coach
Masud Didi Dramani insists he has not failed after been unable to secure Ghana,
a ticket to the 2017 African Youth Championship.
The Black
Satellites went into the second leg encounter on Friday, needing to overturn a
3-1 first leg deficit against Senegal.
The game played at
the New Cape Coast stadium saw Ghana dominate play for most parts of the game
but fail to get the needed goals.
WAFA youngster
Charles Boateng's goal proved the difference on the day as Ghana won by a goal
to zero.
The Black
Satellites however missed out on qualification after suffering a 3-2 aggregate
loss to their Senegalese opponents.
This marks the
first time since 2007 that Ghana's U-20 won't be featuring at an African Youth
Championship.
It also is the
third time that the Black Satellites ( 3 time AYC winners) have missed out on
qualification since making their debut in 1991 (Ghana also failed to qualify in
1995 and 2005).
Speaking at the
post match press conference, Head-Coach of the Black Satellites Masud Didi
Dramani said "I will not consider that (Ghana's elimination) as a failure
because even in a human development, there are times that things don't go the
way you anticipate".
He continued that
"I believe that if rely you were watching the game and if you really
followed the progress of this team under the challenges and the difficulties
that this team has gone through, we think we didn't achieve what we had
anticipated to have achieved.
"But in terms
of saying that is a failure, I wouldn't say so, because some of these boys
didn't have the opportunity of getting that far, but at least in terms of
experience, they have had a level of development...
For Coach Didi
Dramani, he is sure to gets lots of flak from disgruntled Ghanaian football
fans.
Senegal will join
7 other countries including hosts Zambia to participate in the 2017 AYC which
starts on February 26th and ends on March 12 2017.
